TEACHERS FROM GOMEL TO GET A SCOTS WELCOME
16:00 - 09 April 2005
|
Twin-town teachers will visit an Aberdeen school and receive a real Scottish welcome.
Two teachers from Gomel will be greeted by a piper when they visit Kincorth Academy on Monday.
The visit aims to strengthen links between Aberdeen and Belarus.
The
teacher's busy week-long programme includes a tour of the Town House
and visits to Abbotswell Primary School, and Edinburgh and Dunnottar
castles.
The school is holding a Scottish theme day for their visitors, topped off with a meal consisting of mince and tatties.
Hugh Bryce, head teacher at Kincorth Academy, said: "Everyone is looking forward to welcoming our visitors from Belarus."
Last
October, biology teacher Corinne Digges and technology teacher Alan
Tullock from Aberdeen visited School 71 in Belarus to compare teaching
and school life.
Mr Bryce said: "This very exciting international partnership is beneficial to everyone but particularly to the pupils."
