EXTRA
CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The pupils of Kincorth continue to bring credit on
themselves, the school and the community in academic,
musical, sporting and artistic fields.
To complement our curricular activities there is a
wide range of extra curricular recreational activities
available to pupils at Kincorth Academy over lunchtime,
after school or in the evening. Pupils are given detailed
information during the first term of what is available,
when it happens, who to contact and where to go.
SPORTING ACTIVITIES
Sporting Activities are available from Football
to Netball and Basketball. We run teams at all age
groups and compete in the local school leagues and
national competitions catering for boys and girls.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Outdoor Activities range from Mountain biking, orienteering,
hill walking, ski-ing and camping expeditions to
Kayaking which is introduced in the safe environment
of the swimming pool, graduating on to white-water
kayaking on the River Dee.
DEPARTMENTAL CLUBS
The Computer Club offers the chance to work on graphic
games and animation as well as the opportunity to
get extra practice on packages used in class.
The Library Club operates most lunchtimes where books
or magazines can be read, homework or research
for projects can be done and a new Book Club for
S1/2 will be starting soon. Board games can also
be played or story cassettes can be listened to.
Musical Activities are catered for with our Choirs,
Concert Orchestra and String Groups. We also have
a proud tradition of staging successful Musical
Shows such as Oliver, Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour
Dreamcoat and Dracula Spectacula.
Our Charities Club encourages pupils to help others
by arranging activities to support worthwhile causes
and Subbuteo can also be played over lunchtime.
The Senior Students have Achievers International,
Senior Prom and Yearbook Committees which attempt
to encourage our pupils to have original ideas
and promote organisational skills.
There are also very many Homework Clubs which offer
general assistance or specific help in several
subjects.
This year there are over 50 different clubs, sports
activities and homework clubs running at Kincorth
Academy. Any pupil wanting to become involved should
speak to the teacher who organises the activity.
